Construindo a partir de "Art Worlds and Collective Activity" de Howard Becker[i]:

Art world is “the network of people whose cooperative activity, organized via their joint knowledge of conventional means of doing things, produces the kind of art works that art world is noted for”.

art world is definitely network, but sometimes the come-together of artists may not occur due to the knowledge of "conventional means of doings things" but rather because, despite artistic diferences in procedure, the aim might also be, questioning "conventional means of doings things"

  3. Sim, sem dúvida. O projecto "guerrila girls" é um bom exemplo disso.

The space of the in-between is the locus for social, cultural, and natural transformations: it is not simply a convenient space for movements and realignments but in fact is the only place- the place around identities, between identities- where becoming, openness to futurity, outstrips the conservational impetus to retain cohesion and unity. (...)An openess to futurity is the challenge facing all of the arts, sciences, and humanities; the degree of openess is an index of one's political alignments and orientations, of the readiness to transform.(...)
